Here in California we recently voted away single use plastic bags in supermarkets. Personally, I’m happy about the change, and the opportunity to become more environmentally conscience.
Since I ended up giving away my own set of hand stenciled shopping bags, I’ve been on the hunt for some chic but sturdy market bags to add to my Christmas list this year. I thought I’d share some of my favorites with you!
1. Straw Market Bag
I love this vintage straw market bag from Shoe Spectrum on Etsy. I actually like the idea of building a small collection of mix-matched straw bags that I can bring with me to the store. This would be a good one to start with!
2. Eco Friendly Canvas Bags
These eco friendly bags from Duck Sacks on Etsy are made of canvas and water based paint. They are inexpensive and I love the designs!
3. Sailor Stripe Classic Tote
This sailor stripe tote bag from Baggu is so classic! In this case I would probably just buy one and use it for smaller trips to the market.
4. Waxed Canvas Market Bags
I am in love with this set of waxed canvas bags from My Man Sak on Etsy. To be honest they are way out of my budget. But still, the leather banding and copper rivets are very attractive. I bet they are super sturdy and would last a long time!
5. Hemp Shopping Bag
These hemp shopping bags from Nomadic Earth on Etsy look simple but efficient. I think two or three would get the job done!
6. Waxed Canvas Bag
This waxed canvas bag that looks like denim is perfect. I found it at Milhomes on Etsy and it might be my favorite on the list!
7. Crochet Shopping bag
Hand crocheted shopping bags are pricey but perfect for that special trip to the farmers market! I love this one by La Bogetta Di Chicco on Etsy.
